The ten roles

Pick the role, or describe the problem and let us pick.

Each page is written for the person doing the hiring, which means it includes the parts that are awkward for us: when this is the wrong role, and what a bad candidate sounds like.

How the bench works

Three steps, and you make the decision at every one.

You describe the problem

Thirty minutes. Not a requirements document, and not a job specification. We want the constraint you are working against and what finished looks like, because those change which role we put forward.

We shortlist against it

Within 24 hours, from engineers already vetted for that role. Real profiles, no padding, and we tell you where each one is weak as well as where they are strong.

You interview and choose

Your process, your questions, your decision. If nobody on the shortlist is right, say so and we go again rather than talking you into one.

If the fit is wrong later, we replace and do not bill the second ramp-up.
Questions

Before you ask for a shortlist.

Four exercises drawn from real work for that specific role, run by an engineer who does that job, plus a reference check. The exercises are listed on every role page so you can see exactly what was tested rather than taking the word "vetted" on trust.

Yes, always, and we would be worried about any supplier who discouraged it. We put forward a shortlist, you interview, you choose. Each role page carries four questions worth asking, including what a weak answer sounds like.

Tell us early and we replace them from the bench, and you are not billed for the second ramp-up. Fit is our risk to carry because we picked the shortlist.

No. This is staff augmentation: you own the plan and the person executes it well. A forward deployed engineer helps make the plan and is expected to argue with the brief. If you are not sure which you need, that is a good first-call conversation.

Next step

Describe the problem, not the job title.

Thirty minutes, and a shortlist within a day. Including the case where the honest answer is that you need a different role than the one you came for.
